- About Us
Alissa grew up in western MA in a college town. Her upbringing kept her surrounded by intellectuals where she stood out for her fashion sense. She had a strong desire to create exquisite experiences through interior decorating, cooking and designing clothing. She discovered the ability to bring the fantasy of cinema to real life by designing and creating.
When Alissa was 14, it was the 90’s. Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and Christy Turlington ruled the fashion world. She had taught herself pattern-making and began putting on “runway” shows with her friends inspired by the super models of the time. All the while, she was dreaming of a life and place that seemed impossibly out of reach. She had never even visited New York and had no idea what the future held.
Being an adventurer at heart, she moved from her hometown seeking new experiences that would broaden her perspective. Once she was an adult, she moved to South Carolina, than Texas. In Texas she took classes in information technology through UMass and worked as an assistant at an investment bank.
It was in Texas on the weekends where she discovered the magic of luxury fashion at Neiman Marcus. From there, she finally knew what she had to do: she moved to New York City and studied Fashion Design at The Fashion Institute of Technology in 2003. A class on lingerie helped her hone her fitting and construction techniques. Her journal of theories on the psychology of fashion got her accepted into the fashion illustration specialization her final semester. This was quite an accomplishment considering she had no prior formal drawing or design training. Determination and hard work along with a passion for art and design afforded her a degree.
In 2009, after working for Oscar de la Renta and a small startup called Cigana, she began designing her first full collection for her own line. She also honed her skills for fitting garments further through custom work and the creation of a fitting system which she developed.
In 2011 a program at The Fashion Institute of Technology opened up for the study of entrepreneurship. She knew this was the perfect opportunity to gain the skills necessary to navigate the entire business as an entrepreneur under her own label. With great enthusiasm, she was back in NYC surrounded by creative people who knew the importance of the commerce side of the industry.
After finishing the program, she jumped right back in the fashion industry under her own label equipped with a more complete business perspective. Even after learning how to write a business plan and read a balance sheet, she remains a true creative in every sense of the word. Her collections exemplify her love of movies, the art of escapism, and her passion for clothing that is aesthetically harmonious with technology.
